Can You Get Ceramic Coating Without a Full Detail?
Most people who ring us about ceramic coating assume it comes bundled with a full detail. It usually does — our Premium Protect and Ultimate Shield packages both include one — but that isn't the only way to get your paintwork protected.
If your interior is already spotless, or you simply want the protection and nothing else, a coating can be booked entirely on its own. Here's exactly what that involves.
The Short Answer
Yes. Our standalone Ceramic Coating service covers paint protection only, starting from £395. You get the same TCW coating, applied to the same standard, by the same TCW Approved Installer — the difference is that we're not detailing your interior while the car is with us.
What a Coating-Only Booking Includes
Safe wash and full chemical decontamination
Paint inspection and surface preparation
Enhancement machine polish
TCW ceramic coating professionally applied
Wheels and glass protected
Aftercare guidance and coating documentation
The enhancement machine polish matters more than people expect. A coating seals in whatever is underneath it, so refining the paint first is the difference between locking in gloss and locking in swirl marks. It's included as standard, not sold as an extra.
What It Leaves Out
Two things, and it's worth being clear about both.
There's no interior work. Your cabin comes back exactly as you left it — no vacuum, no leather clean, no glass. If the inside needs attention too, you'd be better off with a package.
And it doesn't include heavier correction. The enhancement polish lifts gloss and reduces light marring, but if your paint has deeper swirls or scratches that need single-stage or multi-stage work, that's assessed at inspection and quoted separately through our paint correction and machine polishing service. We'd always rather tell you that before you book than surprise you on the day.
What It Costs
Pricing is based on vehicle size, so that enough studio time is allocated to do the job properly: £395 for small vehicles, £445 for medium, and £495 for large. Small covers superminis up to Fiesta or Polo size, medium covers hatchbacks and SUVs up to around a 3 Series, and large covers anything bigger.
That price includes the TCW 3 Year Slick coating. If you're keeping the car longer, you can extend the protection at the point of booking:
5 Year Slick — +£95
7 Year Pro — +£195
9 Year Elite — +£345
Elite Lifetime — +£495, our dual-layer system with a lifetime warranty maintained by an annual refresh visit
Quoted durability refers to typical performance under recommended maintenance conditions and is not a guarantee of appearance or wear. Preparation quality, environmental exposure, mileage and washing methods all affect longevity.
When a Full Package Makes More Sense
Coating-only suits a specific situation: a car whose interior you keep on top of yourself, or one that's recently been detailed and just needs protecting. It's also a sensible route if you've had correction work done elsewhere and want that finish sealed in.
For most cars, though, Premium Protect works out better value. It starts at £495 and adds a full interior and exterior detail on top of the same 3 Year Slick coating — a hundred pounds for work that would cost considerably more booked separately. It's our most-booked package for exactly that reason.
If you're collecting a new car, planning to keep it for years, or the paint needs proper correction first, have a look at the full car detailing packages before deciding.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a coating applied on its own any less durable?
No. The coating, the preparation process and the installer are identical to our packages. Durability depends on how well the paint is prepared and how the car is looked after afterwards, not on whether the interior was cleaned at the same time.
Will my car need paint correction first?
It depends on the condition of the paint. An enhancement machine polish is included as standard, which is enough for most well-maintained cars. Heavier defects need single-stage or multi-stage correction, which we assess under professional lighting and quote separately before any coating goes on.
How long will you need my car for?
Allow a full day at the studio. Some coatings need an overnight stay so they can cure properly in stable conditions — we'll confirm this when you book, based on which coating you've chosen and your vehicle's condition.
Can I have the interior done later?
Yes. Interior Deep Clean can be booked at any point afterwards, and it won't affect the coating. Bear in mind that booking them together as Premium Protect is usually cheaper than booking each separately.
Do you coat motorcycles too?
Bikes have their own dedicated packages rather than a coating-only option — Bike Detail & Protect includes the 3 Year Slick coating, and Bike Showcase Protect includes the 7 Year Pro. Get in touch if you want protection only on a bike and we'll advise.
